Where we direct readers

AKA the Holy Bible. Composed of 73 Canonical books, the starting point of Christian revelation and the life of the Church.

Where relevant, our resources will link directly to the biblical passages behind a teaching, question, prayer, or practice. An accessible English Bible is available through the Holy See’s archive.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church

A structured presentation of the Church’s essential teaching on faith, worship, moral life, and prayer.

For many foundational subjects, the Catechism will be our principal point of orientation and one of the first places we direct readers.

The Documents of the Second Vatican Council

The Council’s constitutions, decrees, and declarations are essential for understanding the Church’s teaching on revelation, liturgy, the nature of the Church, its mission in the world, religious freedom, ecumenism, and other major questions. The Holy See maintains an official archive of these documents.

Papal and Magisterial Documents

Depending on the topic, readers may be directed toward encyclicals, apostolic exhortations, apostolic letters, constitutions, homilies, and other papal texts.

We will aim to explain what kind of document a reader is encountering rather than presenting every Church text as though it carries the same purpose or level of authority.

Documents of the Roman Curia

The Vatican’s dicasteries publish documents concerning doctrine, liturgy, the sacraments, family life, clergy, consecrated life, canon law, and other areas of Church life. These will be linked when a particular office has issued material directly relevant to a subject.

The Code of Canon Law

Canon law governs many aspects of the Church’s visible and institutional life.

We will refer to it when discussing questions involving rights and obligations, sacraments, marriage, Church offices, procedures, or discipline—but we will not treat general educational material as individualized canonical advice. The full Code is available through the Holy See.

Local Church Sources

Some questions depend on local pastoral guidance, liturgical directives, or the decisions of a particular episcopal conference or diocese.

Where appropriate, we will also direct readers toward their bishops’ conference, diocese, parish, or another competent local Church authority.

A concise explanation of the teaching, its meaning, and any distinctions necessary to approach it responsibly.

As Catholica World grows, selected topics may also include original interviews, short films, visual essays, audio conversations, or creative publications
